Enthusiasts looking forward to the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait too much longer. An exciting trial experience will go live on the seventh of January, offering a generous taste into the game's opening hours. Notably, any progress made within this demo can be imported directly into the full game upon its subsequent launch.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Remake: A Thorough Transformation
This project constitutes a from-scratch reinterpretation of the landmark 2000 RPG, first released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a distinct departure from other series remakes, like the recently released HD-2D iterations, this reimagining adopts a striking 3D aesthetic. The world are designed to resemble detailed miniature worlds, with characters having a whimsical toy-like look.
"Even with the 3DS remake, the narrative was remained notoriously extended. Therefore, we reached a conclusion that we wanted to condense the story, [and] make this adventure for contemporary players."
Key Gameplay Improvements & Modernizations
Square Enix has added several modernizations to update the original gameplay loop. This encompasses:
- Streamlined Overworld Battles: Inspired by contemporary role-playing games, weaker monsters can now be defeated directly on the exploration screen without entering a separate traditional battle sequence.
- Variable Combat Speed: Players have the option to accelerate battle sequences to rapidly get past easier encounters.
- New Job System: A completely new vocation was introduced for this reimagining. Furthermore, characters now have the capacity to master a secondary vocation, significantly enhancing customization options.
These refinements are designed to mitigate one of the original game's frequent criticisms: its immense length. The original storyline was known to require over 100 hours to complete. This reimagined edition was specifically structured to refine progression and reduce any bloat.
