Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
