The star has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the MVT, which works to protect the Britain's independent music venues.

Fender was presented with the prize on mid-October as his third album People Watching was named the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has opted to give the cash to the trust, in appreciation of the essential function grassroots venues played in his beginning days.

"I couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the performances I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked Sam Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – about 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, well-known musicians like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its initiatives to support the industry, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.

He also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous grassroots venues across Britain.

These funds assisted venues that were facing potential shutdown due to issues arising from flooding, blazes and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations were granted monetary aid in improving amenities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted musicians and audiences.

"The idea that money from shows in major spaces backs the independent spots, where it all starts for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has commented.

The musician is among several artists to contribute his honor winnings to worthy causes.

When they received the trophy in the mid-90s for their record their work, vocalist Cocker announced that the act would give their prize money to the organization War Child.

During 2002, artist she divided her award among a few charities, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I contributed a grand to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they required updated gear," she explained to the media.

Two years ago, the band gave their winnings to the community center that supported their act, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

And winners that year they contributed their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was identified with the illness.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," remarked singer Small. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the extra, because we had the cake. So our success affected somebody else's life."

Last week, the trust revealed it had protected a couple of local spots in that region, by transferring them to local control.

One venue in that area and The Croft in Bristol were acquired under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the properties.
