The Electric Vehicle Giant Investors to Cast Their Ballots on Colossal $1 Trillion Compensation Package for Chief Executive Elon Musk

Investors in the electric car maker gathered this Thursday to vote on a substantial compensation package for Chief Executive Elon Musk valued at around $1 trillion. Upon approval, this plan would demonstrate investor confidence that the billionaire can steer the car company into an age defined by AI technology and advanced machinery. If rejected, Tesla could potentially face the exit of a pioneering CEO who previously established the company name synonymous with electric vehicles.

Historic Targets and Market Capitalization

Should Musk achieve the formidable objectives detailed in the compensation plan revealed at Tesla's shareholder gathering, he could emerge as the first-ever trillionaire. To accomplish this, he must steer Tesla to a staggering $8.5 trillion in company worth, which is eight times its existing market cap. Moreover, he will be tasked to deploy countless autonomous vehicles and advanced androids, while maintaining the corporate profits in the hundreds of billions in the upcoming decade.

Reward System

The main goals of the pay package, split into a dozen phases, outline a roadmap for Tesla to reach its enormous market capitalization. Should targets be met, Musk would be eligible to benefit from an additional 12% of the firm's equity. To be eligible, he must remain vested with the corporation for no less than 7.5 years. Additionally, he must assist in creating a long-term succession plan for the enterprise he has managed for over 20 years. The stock options provided by the latest pay package, combined with shares guaranteed in his 2018 package, would grant Musk with 25 percent equity of Tesla's stock. As of early November, Tesla equity was priced approaching its yearly maximum, at roughly $450 per share.

Lofty Goals

During a ten-year period, Musk will be obligated to manufacture 20 million EVs to consumers, distribute 10 million active full self-driving subscriptions, develop and sell 1 million humanoid robots, and introduce 1 million self-driving cabs in paid operations.

Musk will also be required to increase the corporation to $400 billion in tangible revenue for four straight quarters. Tesla's real profits for the July-September 2025 were $4.2 billion, 9 percent lower from the same period last year.

In November, Musk's net worth was pegged at $460 billion, the highest in the planet, according to financial data.

Restoring a Invalidated Deal

Stockholders are also reviewing a plan that would reward Musk after his earlier remuneration deal was invalidated by a court in Delaware. The compensation package, estimated to be $56 billion, was disputed by a single stockholder who prevailed in court. The Delaware judicial system denied Musk's compensation plan on multiple instances. Should investors pass the arrangement in the shareholder meeting, Musk is likely to be paid the substantial payout regardless of if Tesla and Musk overturn the ruling of the lawsuit.

After Musk's previous compensation plan was first rescinded, he moved Tesla's business registration to Texas from Delaware. He followed suit with the rocket firm and other companies' headquarters. In 2024, per Texas statutes, shareholders again voted to approve the pay package.

But Delaware's so-called "judicial body" for a second time denied one of the biggest CEO pay deals in contemporary business. In the wake of that adverse judgment, Musk posted on his accounts to express dissatisfaction with the state and its "prominent judicial figure", possibly igniting a wave of business departures that Delaware lawmakers have tried to stop with new laws.

In considering whether Musk had excessive control in being given that earlier remuneration deal, a prominent law professor commented that the judicial authority noted that other "celebrity leaders" like Facebook's founder and Amazon's Jeff Bezos were not awarded this type of goal-oriented agreements.
