Vehicles in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Police then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.

City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important official said the attack left him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
